Luke is one year old!

He's quite the walker now!
9/28/10

Happy birthday Luke!! (Three days ago...) Boy, am I glad that I didn't spend my Saturday morning writhing in pain and pushing out a baby à la a cave woman like last year. 12 months isn't long enough to quite erase those wince inducing memories. But I do have an adorable boy to show for it!

One month old--look how he's grown! (back when the walls in his bedroom were tan---blech!!) He was 8 lbs. 15 oz. and 22 inches.

12 months

Weight:
20 lbs. 13 oz. (25th %)

Length: 30 inches (55th%)

Hair/eye color: Light brown hair with blond highlights and hazel eyes

New skills: WALKING, clapping, wiping things with a wipe, bouncing to music (he really digs Get on Your Boots by U2. Apparently we are doing something right.), playing peek-a-boo, clicking his tongue. And he just made his first copy by leaning over in his high chair and pressing "Start" and something was in the scanner. Nice job! (Nothing with buttons is safe around this house...) He also likes to stick my hair into my mouth just to watch me spit it out. He thinks it's hilarious.

New favorites: raisins, grilled cheese sandwiches, pudding, cow's milk, juice, bacon, spaghetti, Cheetos Puffs, corn sliced off the cob, yogurt drinks, cold pepperoni

Loves: baths, his kiddie pool, playing outside, scurrying away during a diaper change, eating, exploring, poking, dumping, pulling, shredding, chewing--anything that ends with "-ing"

Hates: getting out of the bath, watching as someone goes outside but he's stuck inside, getting accosted with the booger sucker or fingernail clippers, holding still

I do miss those snuggly newborn days a little

And just for funsies, here's Madelyn's 1 year birthday picture:

Look at those long spindly legs! (Those haven't changed a bit.) She was also 30 inches long at 12 months but only weighed 17 lbs. 8 oz. She was just as active and mischievous as Luke, but was a climber extraordinaire (ugh....) even though she couldn't walk yet. She was a little more high strung, could say a few words and she would sit still for me to read to her, which Luke doesn't do. Their hair situation is about the same. Haha.

Anyway....

Luke's birthday was super busy. We spent most of the day in Hurricane so Mark could help his brothers rebuild the 3' x 60' rock wall in his parent's back yard. Luke and I made a side trip to St. George and when we all got back to Cedar City at 6:00 pm, we went out for Chinese food, went to Walmart to buy a cake (sacrilege! No really, I'm OK with it) came home and finally got to sing "Happy Birthday" to him.

He started off the morning making an invigorating mess in Madelyn's room

...got to try out Madelyn's old car seat...

Then we were out and about for a long time:

Time for cake!

He made the most out of his small piece...

Mark just brought the sticky boy and high chair into the bathroom so we could plop him right into the bath.

Hope you had a great birthday, Mister! You are a sweet, fun little boy! We love you so much!
