One would think that with me posting every 2.3 days, I would have everything covered. Nope. I need to play catch up.

Maria, my cute little sis who is preggers with her first baby (a girl!) came over last Monday to sew and squeal over my baby clothes stash. Well, she sewed and I tried to corral my kids, who wanted nothing more than to play in the big pile of fabric we had on the floor. She ended up making a darling brown/pink polka dot blanket and I cut out some burp cloths. I finally got around to finishing them last Friday:

I made all of these with scraps I already had and one yard of $3 flannel I found on sale at Ace. (Pause to grab calculator...math is not my forte...) That's .25¢ a burp cloth!!! Not bad, eh? And they're cute!

Then I took this polka dot flannel to my mom's and serged around the edge to make a receiving blanket. I used those scraps with some red material I had to make two more burp cloths and then I tried my hand at making some fabric flowers:

Cuuuute! If I do say so. (Third time saying "cute" in this post...wait now that's four...)

Last fall, I about died when I saw this owl knit fabric at Jo-Ann's. It was on clearance and when I tried to go back and get more, it was gone. I had been wondering what to do with it because I am NO good at sewing with knits. But some brown fleece that I had ended up being perfect to stabilize it. So I made a self binding blanket for Luke for his b-day coming up. No judging on the corners. I'm not done with them yet.

I'm working on a couple other things (and my mending pile that has been accumulating for three months--ugh) but they are for gifts, so I will post them after I've given them.

Madelyn has kept busy with a couple of pool parties (and having an epically bad time with swimming lessons--but we won't go into that...). Last Monday, she had her cousins Nathan and Ava over to play. This was the first time Luke used his baby pool, and although there was no sand to eat, he was in heaven.

Yes, we own a lot of kiddie swim paraphernalia. And this is not even including all of it.

Then on Wednesday this week, my friend Michelle brought her two girls over for another round of fun:

It was hilarious watching Madelyn and Emmy together. They are both queen bees and are both so bossy. They are not used to having to share supreme power. Little Kate just roamed around eating grass and rocks and Luke chilled in his pool. Good times.

And now I am a little unsure of what to with myself because Mark and Madelyn have gone camping with the scouts up in the mountains around Beaver. It's so odd not having Madelyn here. It's too QUIET. I guess Luke and I and Netflix will have a night alone. (I think I am going to enjoy this....shhhhh!) :)

Mr. Luke is 10 months old!

Yesterday, Luke turned 10 months old. I have been following him around with the camera for the last month so you could what a cute little stinker he is.

Weight: 20 lbs. 2 oz.
Length: 30 inches

Loves: crawling, pulling up to a stand, grabbing, pulling, poking, dumping, smearing, shaking, dropping, chewing, slobbering, shredding or otherwise getting into everything. Also, rolling over and crawling away as you're changing his diaper.

Favorite new foods: Baby Goldfish crackers, cheese, ham, yogurt, watermelon, pasta


Luke is still a pretty easygoing kid, personality-wise (unless he's teething--he's got seven teeth now), but during his ninth month he just got busy. He loves to explore and make a total mess. Every time I turn around, he's getting into stuff. I know it's just his age so I'm trying to have a sense of humor about it. Luckily, Madelyn more than prepared me for this type of thing. (As I write this, he is getting into the shredder basket...)

His shirt says, "Here comes trouble". Haha....oooooh, you have no idea.

Mmmm....used tissues he found in the trash....

He finally figured out how to crawl on his knees and is very speedy at it. He sometimes army crawls still, like when Mark's chasing him.

(He is extra precious when he's sleeping.) Carrying him in this thing is ridiculously hard--we need to switch him to a bigger car seat, but then it will disturb his naps. We need those naps...

I used to donate my old magazines to the library, but now he rips the covers off of them. Thanks, son!

Look! A forest of electrical cords! Of course this is his favorite place to be in the whole house, yanking on everything.

He's always getting stuck in weird places....

Sometimes even he can't keep up with himself.

Kind of makes you want to get a 10-month old, huh? Or a hyperactive puppy. We are totally in love with our boy, though. I was laughing at these pictures as I was uploading them. I love you, Mr. Luke!!

Sand Hollow, again

7/23/10

This has been a crazy week. Good times, but I am ready for a day off. (And for someone to come do my ironing and mending for me, if any of you are free. Haha.) We went to Sand Hollow reservoir again yesterday since my Aunt Nanette, her daughter Dana and her kids were passing through and had requested to go. So my dad took out his boat and most of the family came.

Luke and I stayed on the shore, where he ate about a pound of sand, crawled around and floated in the baby float. He had the BEST time. He also used the baby float to support his weight in the water and would take off running whenever his feet hit the bottom.

Mark and Madelyn went out on the boat, where Madelyn cried hysterically for a while, but then she and Mark went tubing together and she had a blast! I think my kids would have been right at home growing up near the beach (the "real" beach) like Mark did.

I had just made a slideshow with my pics when my dad sent me some he and Megan had taken, so enjoy the deluge!

PS. Yes, I know I am super pasty. No need to point that out.
