We finished our California trip with a stay at my G-ma Mary Murset's house. She will be 97 in October and has lung problems but still is happy to have visitors come and stay. We sat on the back porch eating fresh oranges from the tree.
I found Luke like this in her back yard. It was always a magical place for me as a kid.
We spent the next few hours at Santa Monica beach, which is about 15 minutes away from her house.
It was cool and breezy and so gorgeous! Isabelle wasn't fond of the wind--she was freaking out until we set the cabana up and she and I hunkered down underneath it.
I wrapped her up in a couple blankets and sat with her in the cabana and read Harry Potter. Meanwhile, Mark and the kids went wave hopping and boogie boarding.
Luke loved boogie boarding--even though he got tossed around quite a bit and went completely under the water with Mark. Madelyn hated it for the same reasons, haha.
Brrrrr!!!
We should have brought more towels, all of ours got soaked. Luke was shivering but kept insisting on going back in the water.
Madelyn's method of warming up.
And here we have Luke licking sand off his toes (because it was salty). He doesn't like to just do things. He likes to EXPERIENCE them.
Waking up from a refreshing nap!
Time to head back.
Our little beach baby :)
The next morning, we listened to some of G-ma's stories. She has lived quite the life and is always entertaining. She has some SPUNK, that lady.
She made us her famous "G-ma eggs"
Mark picked a few more oranges and lemons...
And we said our goodbyes. Hopefully we will be back soon!

I'm so glad you went on this trip and had a wonderful time and got to visit with your spunky Grandma Murset. Great photos. My favorites are of Luke lying in the backyard, and of Isabelle waking from her nap, and of Madelyn buried in the sand. I love the beach!
Wow - reading your previous post reaffirms to me the difference between a family trip and a vacation. Glad y'all had a fun time on your family trip and managed to make it home again in one piece. Time for a vacation now!
